Description
Dr. Brad McKenna of the University of East Anglia’s Norwich Business School explored a World of Warcraft LGBTQ guild with over 7000 members, examining its ability to provide a safe space for the movement and its members. The use of virtual worlds for social movements, as Dr. McKenna concludes, can be used with emergent technology such as virtual and augmented reality to overcome limitations posed by current online games.
