CES 2019: Sophia the Robot is back, and she brought Little Sophia
Publication/Creation Date
January 9 2019Description
CNET first reported on Sophia the humanoid robot at CES 2018, where Sophia first showed off her newly acquired walking skills.
At CES 2019, CNET reporter Ashley Esqueda speaks with David Hanson of Hanson Robotics, along with Sophia and her 'little sister', Little Sophia. They discuss the merging of humans and robots, critical responses to Sophia, and the evolution of artificial intelligence. During the interview, both Sophia and Little Sophia experience some "technical difficulties".
When asked what his ultimate goal is, creator David Hanson states that, "we're looking to bring machines to life, literally. Now, Sophia and other robots are a simulation of life. It's bringing together character arcs and character animation with artificial intelligence and robotics and trying to put everything together as one platform, the full humanized robot platform. The goal is to humanize an interface between people and AI, to humanize AI. However, the end game is to create a symbiosis between us and our machines, so we're not mechanizing people, but we're humanizing the machines".Augments
