Meta Connect Keynote 2022 - Next Generation Avatars
Publication/Creation Date
October 11 2022Description
At Meta Connect 2022, Mark Zuckerberg and Aigerim Shorman reveal the next generation avatars from inside Meta Horizons. These full-body avatars (with legs) are not only more expressive and detailed, but they also more diverse. They will include more skin tones, face shapes, body types, as well as feature better disability representation like cochlear implants, hearing aids, and wheelchairs.
They will be interoperable across all Meta apps and devices including phones and VR headsets, and will be released later next year.
Zuckerberg states, "Avatars are going to be central to how we express ourselves in the future. This is a unique opportunity to build some really interesting things at the intersection of expression, social interaction, creation, and commerce. With Horizon Worlds and Workrooms, we're already starting to see early glimpses as to what this social metaverse could look like.....As this social first platform begins to take shape, we're thinking of the virtual space that you'll call home".Technology Keywords
