Description
Visualizing Venice is a project launched in Duke's Wired! lab for digital humanities. The project aims to use AR and other technological tools to teach history and other humanities courses and conduct additional research on the history of the city of Venice. Visualizing Venice thus includes many digital projects that use diverse tools to visuals different aspects of the Italian city.
This app demonstrates the AR category of
Historical Annotation. In this category, mainstream narratives and histories reflecting actual events of the past are activated and validated through superimposing digitized archival materials onto physical space. Some projects under Visualizing Venice also fall under the category of
