Augmentation technologies: Socio-ethical Consequences and Design Futures (2022-2023)

Curators: Ann Hill Duin and Isabel Pedersen | University of Minnesota and Ontario Tech University | 2022-2023
Collection Editor: Isabel Pedersen
Collection Archivist: Sharon Caldwell

This collection explores augmentation technologies and points to future designs and practices that may mitigate harms. Consequences overlap in complex assemblages that need to be considered in context, and those contexts are more tied to personal computing than ever before. Biometrics play a more significant role due to the embodied nature of augmentation technology. The risks, consequences and impact for users are different with Augmentation Technologies because the technologies are evolving rapidly.
